The “thrills by day” event offers child-friendly events such as trick or treating for children under 12 years of age and a dance party featuring Halloween hits. A magic show is also sure to delight youngsters. There are several other shows featured on the “Monstertainment” list that are sure to be fun and somewhat scary for families. Some less seasonal attractions such as a Safari Off Road Adventure or Underwater Adventures will give youngsters a break from the scares. Children under 12 are welcome to wear a costume.
The real scares start at 6 pm when the “Fright by Night” begins. This event is only recommended for those who aren’t easily frightened. A host of walking dead, mutants, demons and more occupy different zones of the park ready to scare guests as they make their way to “Monstertainment” events and spine chilling rides. The darkness of the night along with the disorienting spooky decorations and scare zones full of monsters give guests a scary experience of losing themselves in the park.
Some of the new frights this year are:
Demon District
This scare zone features a town once full of film studios and success. After a horrible accident, mayhem ensued and streetlamps are now green searchlights looking for the goblins and demons that chase after anyone daring to enter the town after dark.
Big Top Terror
This scare zone features a horrible carnival home to tortured and mutilated species, both human and animal. See the circus carnivals freak shows for yourself when visiting this zone.
Blood Shed
This scare zone shows the creations of a plastic surgeon gone wrong who moves to the Appalachians and offers surgeries to unsuspecting patients. He leaves them mutilated, but alive so that their outward appearance matches their vain, ugly souls.
Apart from these fearful sights, the park transforms some of the rides into spine chilling experiences for those who are brave enough to try them. Some new Monstertainment events are also showing this year including: “Doc Swan’s Sideshow of Oddities” and “Hypnosteria.” There are some scare-free zones where you can rest from being chased by the frights. These are marked on the park map and include all of the children’s zones. Upon visiting the park guests can check show times and scare zones to be sure to visit the areas they are most interested in.
