Jon Harrison, local hero & bellowed member of the Long Beach Township has died unexpectedly. He was the Local Beach Patrol Chief for the last two decades.

Longtime Beach Patrol Chief Jon Harrison, 60, died unexpectedly recently after a long battle with an undisclosed illness, according to the Beach Patrol's Facebook page. His legacy and continuous amazing service are well known in the community.
"Chief's passion for the ocean fueled his unwavering desire to protect those who ventured out into her waters”, the official post states.
"Numerous LBTBP ocean lifeguards were fortunate enough to witness first hand just how Chief Harrison redefined strength, tenacity and grit. Jon devoted much of his life to being in the service of others, saving the lives of countless individuals on our island."
About his legacy
"The desire to save lives is quite possibly the ultimate calling," the post states. "The legacy all ocean lifeguards hope to leave is one that inspires new generations to serve others, but most importantly, save lives while bravely contending with the forces of mother nature. Chief Harrison, you nailed it."

Jon is survived by his loving wife Dana, his son Jeremy and his wife Kaitlin, in addition to his adored grandson Ryder.
