It is interesting that in addition to median salaries, the site also shows each district's total spending, average daily enrollment and students from sending districts, the per-pupil costs and the district's total budget spending for both 2014-15 and 2015-16. When you compare the salaries and this info, there is a direct combination which may indicates that the huge salaries In Bergen are maybe justified when compare to the low ones in Hudson.
Comparison across US
Just for little comparison, in the US, the median annual Teacher High School salary is $57,055, as of March 24, 2016, with a range usually between $45,207-$67,018. So, the salary probably depends on the district, city and the state in which the school is located.
Thoughts?
Many reports claim that teachers leave teaching just because of the salary. To me these numbers sound justified, but are they enough for the amount of work the teachers put in. Typical school day for the teachers is about six to eight hours. But their work load includes additional hours for grading tests and papers, preparing lessons, gathering materials, making classroom displays, and meeting with students, parents and administrators. On top of that there are contorting learning opportunities into preparation for standardized tests, and attending classes for the extra credits that earn higher pay. On top of that they deal with the future generations and we all know that this is maybe the hardest thing to do in life.
They are shaping America’s future by guiding the youth with the right education and cultural values.
So, how much is all of this effort worth in salary dollars? Are those numbers in our state justified? Should they be lower, higher or they are at the right level?
